Tips For Training an Aggressive Dog?

I’ve been walking my neighbors dog for about a month now, and she’s fairly good, but sometimes get a bit excited and starts to pull on the leash, she’s a very big dog, so controlling her gets tiring after a while.

Also, when I try to put the leash on her she struggles, which makes it very hard to put it on.

The other problem is that any time she gets close to a dog (at distances she’s fine) she’ll try to bite and attack the other dog, and when she does this she’s nearly impossible to control until I get a good hold of her.

Can anyone give me tips about how to train her to walk by my side, sit calmly when I put a leash on her and not be aggressive towards other dogs?

Thanks

If this dog is getting aggressive at other dogs, then you need to go to the owners and tell them that this is going on and that you cannot walk her until she gets some sort of behaviour modification.

If YOU want to learn how to do this training with their dog, then you need to hire a behaviour modification trainer to come in and work with both of you.

You cannot continue to put other dogs in danger because you cannot control her. If my dog got bit, I would sue you, your parents, and the owners of the dog for everything I could under the scope of the law. I’d even try to find NEW things that I could sue the three of you for.

Training collars (gentle leaders, prong, chokes) *can* be good, if you are a person who has years of experience with dogs and have worked with someone to use them properly. I would NOT hand any of those over to a 13 year old who hasn’t taken even obedience 101.
