How do I go about training a pet owl to keep her safely enclosed during the day and free at night to hunt.?
enclosed in the day but free o hunt and return at night?
I’m pretty sure owls are government protected species and you would be required to have a permit to own one .The fact that you would turn it loose at night would make no difference,it would have to be free all the time. Something similar happened to a friend of mine who had raccoons in his barn. They had the run of the loft and free access to come and go. When the game warden demanded they be set free my friend said —Be my guest . As the warden went up the ladder to retrieve them the huge grandfather coon came down the ladder snarling. As the the warden ran for his car he yelled I guess they’re fine in your barn. Funny my friend could be friends with all of them but no stranger dared walk in.
So check on the regulations in your area as you can get in a heap of trouble otherwise. Probably a wild animal rehabber or vet in your area would know .
