Tips for training my puppy to walk on a leash?

I just got a puppy, and she wont walk on a leash. The first time, I tried to drag her, but after a couple feet I stopped. I dont think its right to drag her!
Can anyone give me tips or advice to get her to walk with it?
We have 40 acres, so shed rather run free, and the place we got her from had lots of land too, so shes used to running free.
The problem is that we go camping, and I want her to be used to her walking with a leash when we take her, because my other dog, whose 7 pulls because we didnt train her on a leash.

Start with attaching the leash for a few minutes twice a day or so and let her drag it around after her (make sure she doesn’t catch on anything though).

Once she’s got used to the idea of the lesh following her around, take her fovorite toy and throw it a few feet in front of her while you hold the other end of the leash. As she runs for the toy, follow her. Try to put as little tension on the leash as possible. She’s soon learn that wearing a leash means it’s a fun game-time and will look forward to it.

Once she’s got the basic idea, you can start carrying the toy (make sure she knows you have it) and have her leashed and walk around for a bit. She should follow you wnating the toy. Every few seconds, stop walking and have a quick 5 second game with the toy to reward her for walking with you. Slowly, extend the amount of time between each game.

Practice this 1-2 times a day, not longer than 15 minutes each time (puppy’s attention span is short). Try practice it in the same area each time without distractions. Once she’s got the basics right, you can start taking her to other places.

Remember to always praise good behaviour on the leash and try ignore the bad (unless it’s really bad). If you praise only the good and don’t respond to the bad, the good behaviours will increase as your puppy tries to get your praise.
