Before you get your puppy?
While I am strongly against the idea of giving puppies as presents, I know that some of you have asked for them, and some of you will be getting puppies soon or in the next year. SO, I want to recommend 2 very excellent books for you new puppy owners.
The first one is called BEFORE YOU GET YOUR PUPPY, written by Ian Dunbar who is a veterinarian and an expert on dog behavior. It’s the best book to have and read . . . guess when? Right! Before you get a puppy. Get it as soon as possible so you’ll be ready.
The second book is AFTER YOU GET YOUR PUPPY by Dr. Dunbar again. It should be read as part of a set with the other book. Great books to help new puppy owners out and guide you on your way. Both books can be found at Ian Dunbar’s website and probably at http://www.dogwise.com

But I completely agree with you on not getting someone a puppy as a present. Getting a puppy should be a mutual decision concerning everyone you live with, family or roommates.
