What is the easiest way of training a dog to stop biting?
My dog is part jap. chin so its expected that they will be a bitting dog but its also a pomeranian girl dog and normally poms don’t bite that much. Please help me!!!!!
Any time teeth touch something they’re not allowed to (like skin or clothing), yelp loudly. This is how dogs communicate “Ouch that hurts!”. If she continues to mouth on you, stand up straight and cross your arms. Don’t look at her, don’t talk to her, don’t touch her. She’ll learn eventually that mouthing is not an appropriate way to ask for attention. When she stops and is calm, reward and praise her for her good behavior.
Never get physical with a mouthing dog. Hitting a dog will make it hand-shy. Grabbing the muzzle will lead to snapping at your hands (because it’s really not pleasant and the dog will defend itself to stop you doing it).
