Dog Housebreaking?
We have a lab/shep mix that is 1 year old, she has been borderline impossible to housebreak. She has the routine down but she is backwards on it. She has an accident, then flies to the door wanting to go outside. We have tried crating her, excessive amount of praise when she does go outside, but it hasn’t really helped. We have other dogs that have housebroken easily. Any suggestions?
Just keep at it. Have you had the dog long? It is only a 1 year old. My dog Jake took a few months and he was a yeah old when we got him, but I’m good at training dogs. Also, dont put your dogs face in its pis* or shi* cuz that will teach the dog that it is doing something wrong when it has to go, and a lot of people do that and its not the right way. Yeah dont pay attention to grannywinkie down there. He says its the only way its worked for her cuz its the only way she has ever done it. Take your dog for walks often and when it goes while you are out give it treats and praise. Pick a word to use for your dog to recognize that means that its time to go. Use this word over and over while he is going outdoors and only at that time, after a while he will recognize that word. Give it time and keep at it. Not all dogs are the same and can be trained in the same time period. Good Luck.
